Goats are on my list of animals I want to own someday.  I had completely forgotten about this picture, and now that I found it again, I am in love with it.

For our first year wedding anniversary my husband I took a mini vacation to Madison Indiana and surrounding areas to tour some wineries.  One winery that we explored was the Stream Cliff Farm Winery, which is also attached to their Herb Garden and Tea Room.  I took this picture when touring their gardens.  The gardens at the Herb Farm and Tearoom were very inspirational to me.  I came away with ideas, motivation, and pictures.

What is an animal you want to own someday?  Have you taken any trips where you found things or places that enhanced or further inspired your own goals?

This fall we headed down to Evan’s Orchard.  Evan’s Orchard is currently my favorite u-pick place.   We picked some apples out in the orchard, bought more apples in their store, and picked up the best apple cider we’ve ever had.

The apples below are ones we picked up in the store.

local apples

I admit I partially wanted them just because I liked their coloring so much.  They were labeled as being a good sauce variety, and I made my first very small batch of applesauce.   I had never had homemade applesauce before, and I was pleasantly surprised.  It was the day I learned that applesauce was good.

It is time to get this blog on a roll, and because I’m on vacation this week I thought a simple series of picture posts was a nice way to start.  I love taking pictures, and wish I did it more often.  Recently I went through many of my old pictures and selected a few […]

12 Resolutions in 2012

January 10, 2012

For the year 2012, I have 12 resolutions.  I didn’t do it on purpose, it just sort of worked out that way.  I tried to choose a variety that would cover more year long projects, as well as things that could be one offs.  The end goal in mind was for me to feel more […]

Hot Water Bottle Cover

December 16, 2011

When it is cold outside there is nothing quite like curling up under a blanket with a hot water bottle.   I’m really not sure how I got through the winter without them in the past.  Warm feet when I go to bed?  Yes please! As much as I love my hot water bottle, I’m […]

The Hen House

December 14, 2011

Our hens came home the weekend before thanksgiving.  I didn’t think I’d love them as much as I do. They are amazingly cute, make funny noises, and produce awesomely flavored eggs.  Before we got these chickens I had no clue that egg whites could have such flavor! The two gold ones are Golden Comets and […]

Snowflake Chandelier Tutorial

December 7, 2011

I kicked off the beginning of my Christmas crafting by creating an awesome snowflake display in my living room.  The idea was built from a combination of images I saw on pinterest and a desire to cover up my ugly ceiling fan.  The first inspiration image was the icicle lights wrapped around a hula hoop. […]

Rainy Days

December 4, 2011

I feel like it has rained a month straight here in Kentucky. Most days I end up feeling a bit soggy and hoping for a bit of sunshine, just like this sunflower.   Yesterday was a wonderful day full of sunshine and mild temperatures. Hopefully that will get me through the next few days of […]

I dream of one day owning a farm.  In my dream world it is a giant farm and many parts of it magically maintain themselves without any effort on my part.  Th dream farm includes a really cool old house and a tumbleweed house tucked away near a wooded area.  I’d spend my spring and […]
