About

Building Mental Wellness Through Self-Care is an engaging, research-informed training designed to help mental health professionals support clients in developing sustainable self-care practices that strengthen overall well-being. This course explores the intersection of self-care, rest, resilience, and connection—highlighting how intentional habits protect against burnout and enhance mental, emotional, and physical wellness. Participants will examine why self-care is often difficult for clients to maintain, including cultural and systemic factors such as stigma, perfectionism, and community expectations around productivity. The training introduces the eight types of rest—physical, mental, sensory, emotional, social, creative, spiritual, and cognitive—and provides practical strategies for helping clients identify and integrate each into their daily lives. Through guided reflection, case examples, and structured resilience planning, learners will gain tools to teach clients how to set boundaries, manage digital overload, and reframe rest as a proactive act of self-preservation rather than indulgence. The training also explores the vital role of physical health, social connection, and community support in building mental wellness. By the end of the session, participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the mind–body connection, a framework for collaborating with clients on personalized resilience plans, and renewed insight into how intentional self-care fosters lasting balance—for both clients and clinicians alike. (1.0 hour CEU for Texas LPCs, LCSWs, LMFTs, and Psychologists)
