About
Building Resilience in Clinical Practice: A Guide for Therapists to Sustain Well-Being & Mitigate Vicarious Trauma, Burnout, and Compassion Fatigue is a reflective and skills-based training designed to help mental health professionals strengthen their personal and professional resilience. Therapists are often deeply committed to the healing of others, yet the emotional demands of this work can take a significant toll. Over time, exposure to clients’ pain and systemic pressures can lead to burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma—diminishing both well-being and clinical effectiveness. This training reframes resilience not as a trait, but as an ethical and professional responsibility that allows clinicians to sustain presence, empathy, and purpose throughout their careers. Through interactive discussion, guided reflection, and evidence-informed strategies, participants will: Understand the distinctions between burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. Identify early warning signs and risk factors that impact therapist well-being. Learn practical, realistic tools for emotional regulation, mindfulness, and boundary maintenance. Develop a personalized resilience plan to integrate into daily practice. This training empowers clinicians to care for themselves with the same intentionality they extend to their clients. Whether working in private practice, community mental health, or high-intensity settings such as crisis intervention, participants will leave with concrete strategies to protect their energy, sustain their empathy, and thrive in a long, meaningful career in the helping professions. (1.5 hours CEU for Texas LPCs, LCSWs, LMFTs, and Psychologists)
